The Brave Club

Our goal

The Brave House members and accompanying Brave Buddies mentors meet every month to have a group discussion and learn about change-makers in the present and throughout history who come from a wide spectrum of different races, ethnicities, genders, religions, and LGBTQIA+ identities. We focus on activists who have advanced women’s rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, racial justice, mental health awareness, sexual assault, legal advocacy, and climate advocacy. Our goal is to highlight activists from underrepresented backgrounds who have demanded change and significantly shaped the world for the better. We hope to relate to the activists' personal stories and be inspired by their courage.

Our reading list is below with links to ethically purchase the books. You can also purchase used copies at Better World Books and electronic versions of the books here, or search for local and independent bookstores near you at Book Shop. If you do decide to purchase your books from another bookstore or website, please do your best to buy ethically.

This month, we are learning about youth climate and LGBTQIA+ activist Jamie Margolin.
