Internship Positions.

The following positions reflect our current needs: Outreach Intern

Individuals of all backgrounds and educational experiences (both formal and informal) are encouraged to apply. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about immigration, women’s rights, and creating a more safe, loving, and equitable world.

Requirements:
  • Must possess a strong interest in supporting young immigrant women and gender-expansive youth, advocating for human rights, and creating safe and welcoming spaces where community members thrive. 
  • ​Prior experience working with youth, immigrants, and survivors is preferred.
  • Commitment of ~8 hours/week for the duration of the semester internship. 
  • Preferred start date is Monday, January 23, 2023, but flexible if necessary.
  • Internship will be conducted both remotely and in person at the Brave House office in DUMBO: 155 Water St, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
    • Due to the hybrid aspect of our internships, we ask interns to have a stable internet source and a computer. We recognize the barriers this may cause and will work with interns to make this opportunity accessible for all. 
  • Internships at the Brave House are unpaid. We partner with local colleges and universities to help interns secure credit and funding through their institution. 

Outreach Intern. 

 
We are seeking an Outreach Intern to:
  • Maintain the Brave House social media presence on Instagram;
  • Develop and update the Brave House website using Weebly;
  • Create, edit, and send out our monthly newsletter on MailChimp;
  • Brainstorm directions for social media growth;
  • Support outreach efforts to recruit new members;
  • Collaborate with team members on ad-hoc projects;
  • Attend team meetings and communicate actively across all platforms including Gmail, the Brave House Mobile App, and Gcal;
  • Optional: attend monthly community events with the Brave House such as roller-skating, resume-writing, and more! 

The Brave House is a young and small organization that allows for flexibility across departments. This intern could discuss joining other teams and combining this work with other Brave House involvement. 

Background, Experience, and Skills:
​
  • Strong written communication skills;
  • Purpose-driven, creative, organized, and self-sufficient;
  • Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills and the ability to take on and manage different projects simultaneously; 
  • Willingness to take initiative and contribute to the organization’s programs and their overall development; 
  • Good computer skills, including experience with Google suite;
  • Experience with graphic design, design software, video editing, and social media ​
